Frequently Asked Questions

  • Chevron down Will my cruise go out in inclement weather?
  • Our cruises go out rain or shine.  If weather is severe, it is at the Captain’s discretion whether we leave the dock or return early as a safety measure. Time at the dock is the same as cruising time.

  • Chevron down What should I wear?
  • Attire consistent with your event is appropriate. High heeled or stiletto style footwear is not recommended.

  • Chevron down Do you require a deposit at the time of booking for private cruises?
  • Yes. A $500 non refundable deposit is required to secure your booking. The deposit will be applied to your final bill.

  • Chevron down What is your cancellation policy?
  • Public Cruises: Must be cancelled 24 hours or more before departure time for a full refund.

    Private Cruises: We cruise rain or shine. Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to the event will receive a refund of payments made with the exception of the $500 deposit. Cancellations made between 7-29 days of the event will forfeit deposit of $500 and will be responsible for 50% of remaining balance. Cancellations made less that 7 days of the event will be responsible for the entire balance due.

  • Chevron down Can we extend the time of our private cruise while we are on board?
  • It is possible to extend time to your cruise, provided the boat is not scheduled for another cruise and crew is available. Most cases it is better to extend time before hand.

  • Chevron down Where do cruises depart from? When are we allowed to board the boat? Will you wait for late arrivals?
  • Cruises depart/arrive at the Port of Excelsior located at 2 Water St. Boarding begins 10 minutes prior to departure time. For public cruises, we generally leave on time, however we may wait up to 5 minutes for late arrivals. For private cruises, you have the boat for your specified period of time. It is up to the coordinator of your party whether they wish to wait for late comers or depart without them.

  • Chevron down Is there parking onsite?
  • There is metered street parking at the Port of Excelsior and free public parking lots nearby.

  • Chevron down Is gratuity included in the price of my cruise?
  • Whether you are on a public or private cruise, gratuity for your Captain & Crew is not included in the price of your cruise, and is at your discretion at the time of service.

  • Chevron down What is the service change listed on my invoice?
  • Service charge covers fees for deliveries, boat cleaners, crew training, sales staff, caterers, mechanics and set up crew. Gratuity for onboard crew is not included. Crew gratuity is at your discretion.

  • Chevron down May we bring our own food or beverages on board?
  • Minnesota State and County Health Laws do not allow for any outside beverages or food to be brought on board. With the exception of special occasion cakes. Note: A fee may be added if a cake is brought onboard.

  • Chevron down If I book a private cruise for a special occasion, am I allowed to decorate the boat?
  • Yes. We will allow 2 people to board 20 minutes prior to your departure time to put up your decorations. The remainder of your group will begin boarding 10 minutes prior to your departure time. You will be required to remove your decorations before you disembark.

  • Chevron down If I book a Private Cruise, am I allowed to hire a DJ or live band to play on board?
  • Yes we have several great DJs and bands available for hire, DJs and bands must be located inside of the boat and not on the outer decks. Contact our sales office for further information regarding live music.

  • Chevron down If we have ordered food, are we allowed to take the leftovers at the end of our cruise?
  • No. Due to Hennepin County Food Safety Health regulations, food cannot be taken off the boat.

  • Chevron down Are we able to stop at locations on the lake or go swimming?
  • State Charter Boat Regulations do allow for stopping at locations on the lake other than approved departure and drop off locations without prior approval. Swimming is not allowed.

  • Chevron down Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Buffets Guidelines
  • Our buffets are prepared in advance by our catering company. The amount of food on board is limited to the number of guests. The buffet is typically generous but not all you can eat.

  • Chevron down Handicap accessible?
  • Our vessels conform with all state rules governing accessibility. The accessibility is limited. Typically there is a step up from our pier location to the boat and there are no ramps for wheel chairs. Please call our staff for more information on this.

  • Chevron down Is smoking allowed?
  • Smoking is on the lower deck, outside!

  • Chevron down Is your cash bar strictly “cash”?
  • Our bar will accept cash, credit cards and debit cards for bar charges or final payments.

  • Our menu has several items designated as vegetarian and vegan, we are also happy to accommodate and special diet needs as well.
